DRTL Annual Banquet

Pam Tebow to Headline DE Right to Life Annual Banquet

Mother of Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow will speak at charity banquet/auction

Newark, Delaware, September 15, 2009 -- Pam Tebow, mother of University of Florida quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, will speak at the Delaware Right to Life annual banquet on Wednesday, November 4 at the Christiana Hilton in Newark.

Pam and her husband Bob have been married 37 years and have five children, ranging in age from 21 to 32.  They also have two sons-in-law and two granddaughers.  All five of the Tebow children were homeschooled, and they all received college scholarships.

The notoriety of the Tebow family dramatically increased in 2007 when their youngest son, Tim, won the Heisman Trophy as the sophomore quarterback for the Florida Gators.  He became the first player in college football history to score 20 touchdowns rushing and 20 touchdowns passing in a single season.  Tim Tebow also won the Maxwell Award in 2007 and 2008 as the nation’s top college football player.  On January 11, 2009, Tebow led the Florida Gators to the National Championship over the Oklahoma Sooners.  He is currently at the University of Florida for his final season this fall.

Pam Tebow has become well-known in the pro-life community since an ESPN interview which discussed Pam’s refusal to abort Tim, against medical advice.  While pregnant, Pam suffered a life-threatening infection with a pathogenic amoeba. Because of the drugs used to rouse her from a coma and to treat her dysentery, the fetus experienced a severe placental abruption. Doctors expected a stillbirth and recommended an abortion to protect her life.  She carried Tim to term, and both survived.

She will bring her pro-life message to Delaware on November 4, 2009 at the DRTL annual banquet.  Tickets for the banquet cost $50/person ($55 after Oct. 30), $30/student and can be obtained by visiting www.derighttolife.org, or by contacting Betty O’Malley at 302-453-8846 or betty@derighttolife.org.  The event will also feature a silent auction.  Proceeds benefit the Delaware Right to Life Education Fund.
